Artist's statement
I studied at Telford College, Edinburgh for my City and Guilds from
1994-1998 (Highly Commended) and I have continued to stitch ever since. I
have also attended various courses at Edinburgh School of Art.
I particularly like layering different fabrics including hand dyed silk,
metal and handmade paper to achieve depth of colour and texture. The detail
is completed by machining and handstitching the piece. I design everything
from wall hangings, pictures, fire screens, cushions and cards.
My influences are varied but I particularly like landscapes and buildings
and use my own photographs for inspiration.
I have recently moved to the East Neuk of Fife and have also been using
shells and bits of pottery washed up onto the local beaches.
I have exhibited from Perth to the Borders including having a venue at the
Pittenweem Arts Festival for 3 years.
I am also a member of Group XII who exhibit all over Scotland and will be
in Peebles this summer.
