Artist's statement
As well as exhibiting with 'edge' textile artists scotland I have recently jointly organised and taken part in a touring exhibition entitled 'As the Rivers Run' with my friend and colleague Alison King of which 'Requiem for Kyrstanne' was the central piece of my body of work. This series of work was based on Newburgh and the River Tay where I was brought up and is semi autobiographical in nature. I am inspired by the mood and light of the Scottish landscape and this region in particular. I have recently been attracted back to the drawing board and this exhibition also included stitched drawings of which 'Boats on the Shore' is an example.
I have several more stitched drawings in the 'pipeline' and will continue to develop my textile panels under the heading 'Windows of Opportunity', the first of which is being shown in an touring exhibition called 'Creative Dialogues' with the Practical Study Group in 2008/9.
